Position Summary

Is this position exempt from overtime pay?

No

Works collaboratively with different offices within AACPS to synthesize pertinent information, complete required documentation, and write the narrative on grant applications needed to acquire funds for AACPS projects and activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?

No

1. Meets with school/office and community partners, when applicable, to discuss funding opportunities, learn about the pertinent details of the proposed project/activity, and develop a working timeline to submit the proposal for review.

2. Reviews the grant application/Request for Proposal and follows up with funder to clarify questions, when applicable.

3. Works collaboratively with school/office to facilitate the grant writing process, including participating in meetings, collecting and interpreting data, compiling attachments and writing, editing, and critiquing proposal narrative and budget.

4. Writes, edits, and prepares final proposal for grant-funded projects for submission to AACPS and the appropriate funding authority/organization.

5. Coordinates grant writing process with school/office seeking grant funding

6. Coordinates with PDM Office Grant Specialist to develop a timeline and ensure that the grant is reviewed, approved, and submitted by the deadline.

7. Communicates regularly and inform PDM Grant Specialist of any issues that may delay/prevent the grant application to be completed and submitted.

8. Meets regularly with PDM Office and Grant Specialist

9. Works collaboratively with all parties involved to answer/clarify and questions that may stem from the submitted grant(s).

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalency certificate. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Experience

• Previous experience which demonstrates a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities, comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent writing and editing skills.

• Ability to review Request for Proposals and meet all requirements for grant applications.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate, as needed, with offices and school system employees.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.

• Ability to employ business technology tools (e.g. E-mail, AACPS Intranet, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
