Position Summary:

The focus of this position will be to enhance each teacher's ability to provide instruction that build students' academic skills by enhancing student engagement in and ownership of the learning. The Instructional Coach will work directly with teachers and administrators in a targeted school site to enhance instruction, providing support through classroom-based demonstrations, collaborating and offering one on one interactions, and professional development to align site level instructional decisions with district curriculum priorities.

Essential Duties:
  • Supports regular, ELL, and special education teachers in the implementation, alignment and monitoring of the district curriculum guidelines.
  • Provides rigorous standards-based teaching strategies including the District Standards in professional development.
  • Monitors, reviews, supports and makes recommendations regarding instructional programs on assigned campuses.
  • Works with the administrator and instructional leadership team to monitor and support the implementation of the programs growth and improvement.
  • Integrates the district's instructional guides into the school's instructional strategies to create an integrated campus action plan.
  • Facilitates inquiry groups to research effective teaching practices and provides useful tools that can be readily integrated into the educational reform process.
  • Conducts classroom interactions to demonstrate and observe essential elements of the school's instructional program and District Standards. Components of these interactions will include: planning conferences with teachers, demonstration observation sessions, and debriefing.
  • Provides technical assistance in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of student achievement data.
  • Participates in state and local professional development for Instructional Coaches, including peer observations, professional research and mathematics, inquiry sessions and higher education opportunities.
  • Maintains an awareness of current research and curricula trends and disseminates best practices in instruction, assessment, technology and equity to provide job embedded professional development on instructional strategies that increase student achievement.
  • Collaborates with other instructional coaches to review performance data, reflect on themes, determine how to aggregate and prioritize needs, and allocate resources accordingly.
  • This position will be required to travel between locations to perform the duties mentioned above. Must have a reliable mode of transportation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Specifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
  • Bachelors' Degree.
  • Oklahoma Teacher certificate.
  • Five (5) years of successful teaching experience required.
  • ELEMENTARY REQUIREMENTS: Elementary Mathematics, Reading Specialist, Early Childhood, or Elementary Certification.
  • SECONDARY REQUIREMENTS: Secondary English/Language Arts, Reading Specialist, US History/Government/Economics, Secondary Math, or Advanced Mathematics certification.
  • Experience in planning and monitoring campus-wide instructional programs.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and experience leading teachers in the area of instructional delivery across the curriculum.
  • Outstanding communication facilitation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills suited to provide advice and mentoring to teachers and administrators.
  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices for English Language Learners, students with disabilities and gifted and talented students.
  • Experience in providing support to campuses in the areas of classroom-technology integration, parental involvement, school wide needs assessments, and analyzing data using large-scale, benchmark, and embedded assessments.

  • Masters' Degree
