The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for providing leadership by implementing and supervising an effective instructional program for grade K-5 in a positive and supporting learning environment that assures the academic achievement of all students.
- Responsible to the Superintendent for the organization, administration, and supervision of the school to which he/she has been assigned and for keeping the Superintendent informed concerning the operations and activities at their school.
- Responsible for articulating the school and district mission to the community and soliciting its support in realizing the mission. Able to work collaboratively with all departments at the district level.
- Responsible for providing collaborative educational leadership to the teachers of the school. They shall schedule and manage building level meetings, communicate and promote expectations for high level performance to staff and students while recognizing achievement and excellence.
- Responsible for the implementation of the adopted curriculum and working collaboratively with the Teaching and Learning department at the central office to do so.
- Responsible for ongoing appraisal and evaluation of the instructional program.
- Responsible for making recommendations concerning the selection assignment and evaluation of building teachers to the superintendent.
- Responsible for the assignment of duties of the teaching staff and insuring that each staff member has an equitable amount of class and extracurricular assignments in compliance with the contract.
- Responsible for maintaining a comprehensive program of professional development for teachers, and for conducting orientation meetings for teachers new to the district and/or school.
- Responsible for classification, promotion, or retention of students within their building following district procedures.
- Responsible for promoting school wide positive behavior system with the learning community.
- Responsible for overseeing the safety of students, including, but not limited to: fire and tornado drills and school sponsored activities.
- Responsible for building wide scheduling and managing of finances including a building budget.
- Responsible for maintaining good public relations with the community and for utilizing community resources to support the learning program.
- Responsible for record keeping at all levels and reporting as required by district and state policies and laws.
- Responsible for the management of school facilities to ensure a clean, orderly and safe environment.
- Responsible for other tasks as may be assigned.
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 1 time per year.
