    Job Title: School to Work Teacher
    Work Year: Maximum of 2 Days per Week
    Department: Paragon Learning Center
    Reports To: Paragon Principal
    Salary Range: Salary Range: $35,200 - $73,200
    (Prorated based on the amount of days worked)
    Benefits: PEA Agreement
    Status: FLSA Status: Exempt

    SUMMARY:
    This position is a temporary at-will position with funding through June 2018. There is no guarantee of continued employment. It is anticipated that this position will work 2 days each week
    The job of the School to Work Teacher supports students in their efforts to obtain work experiences while attending high school. This position is responsible for the operation of the school-to-work program that includes the recruitment of jobs (paid and unpaid), internships, apprenticeships, mentoring, and career opportunities for students and placement of students in those sites.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    REQUIRED:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education, Counseling or related field.
    • Valid Colorado Teacher License
    • Valid Colorado Drivers License and reliable transportation
    • Employee must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and must be cleared by the Office of Human Resources
    • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary

    PREFERRED:
    • Previous experience in Secondary School setting
    • Previous experience designing and implementing training programs
    • Previous experience working with at-risk students
    • Spanish Speaking Skills
    • Experience developing queries/reports

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
    • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
    • Ability to use windows based computer and associated programs i.e. word, excel, email, etc.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
    • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and execute work effectively, using independent judgment to provide overall direction for reaching organizational goals
    • Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, businesses, and other community members
    • Ability to work tactfully and courteously with students, staff and the general public

    • Assist the principal, advocate, and postsecondary/workforce representatives in defining needs, developing plans, establishing goals, and formulating policies and procedures for program development.
    • Implement and coordinate planned services under the direction of the principal.
    • Provide, obtain, and coordinate services that result in successful community/work based learning opportunities for Paragon Students. i.e
      • Career exploration and development
      • Teaching of job seeking skills and facilitation of job seeking activities
      • Assist in placement of appropriate, career-oriented jobs
      • Job related instruction and supervision to develop specific job skills and general job behaviors
      • Development and supervision of on-the-job training provided by the employer
      • Development and coordination of post-secondary, classroom vocational training or academic education opportunities that result in competitive employment
      • Independent living skills training relevant to successful employment and community living
      • Modeling and teaching self-determination, empowerment, and advocacy skills at work and in the community
    • Provide necessary reports to document service delivery, progress toward objectives, and attainment of goals
    • Support students in developing access to and services at Community Colleges and Universities
    • Act as a liaison and resource with families, agencies, employers, and school staff regarding career and community programming for youth.
    • Recruit new businesses and organizations to provide quality work-based and school-based learning experiences.
    • Maintain lists of businesses/industries willing to participate in work-based learning
    • Assist in screening, interviewing, and selecting qualified students for work-based learning experiences
    • Communicate/visit business and industry on a regular basis
    • Disseminate information on work-based learning programs to employers, parents, teachers, students, and counselors
    • Follow standard office practices and procedures and effective practices and processes for career and technical education
    • Prepare, check accuracy, and verify all reports, travel expenses, work logs, time reports, and other appropriate records pertaining to work-based learning
    • Process information using word processing, email, internet, data processing student system, work order system, purchase order system, supply and data processing request systems, and other computer processes as needed

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel. The work requires the use of telephone and using fingers to operate computer keyboards. The employee is continually hearing and speaking to exchange information. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Employee will work primarily in a school/office environment with both natural and fluorescent lighting with quiet or moderate noise levels.
