For the 2019-2020 school year, we will employ over 50 staff members and serve approximately 500 students in grades 4-11, growing to graduate our first class of 12th graders in the spring of 2021. 
ABOUT YOU  
As the social worker you will be directly accountable to the principal for: enabling student academic growth as well as academic achievement for all students, especially those with any identified special education needs; accessing, leveraging all resources to meet students' social emotional needs. You will be a member of the Student Support Team and will work to ensure all students are demonstrating dramatic student achievement gains and demonstrating the character traits and intellectual habits needed to succeed in the college of their choice, lead in their communities and change the world. 
What your day to day might look like
  • Teach small groups of students, exemplifying strong planning, data-driven interventions.
  • Use assessments and data to inform social and emotional progress. 
  • Demonstrate profound personal responsibility and take total ownership for both the emotional and academic growth and absolute achievement of all students.
  • Seek out feedback to improve instructional and professional practices.
  • Analyze assessment data, adjust plans, target interventions appropriately and constantly push students to achieve at maximum levels.
  • Reflect on practices to meet student goals and individual professional development growth goals.
  • Act in a way that demonstrates high expectations and our belief that demographics are not destiny.
  • Model and teach the values of Chicago Collegiate and uphold a commitment to excellence.
  • Support all staff in developing techniques and instructional strategies to ensure the learning of all students.
  • Assist teachers with tracking data to determine the effectiveness of interventions
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with classroom teachers, students and parents about student progress.
  • Meet with teachers regularly to help problem solve and plan interventions for students.
  • Collaborate with teachers so that Chicago Collegiate provides instructional support that leads to dramatic academic gains for students.
  • Solicit additional resources and support (OT, PT, etc.) as necessary.
Requirements
  • Hold at least a Bachelor's degree, plus one of the following:  (a)  be a licensed social worker/school counselor in the state of Illinois, OR (b) hold a Masters in Social Work, OR (c) hold a masters in another directly related field such as clinical psychology. If  no social worker license yet, candidate needs to be willing to pursue a professional educator social worker/school counselor license in Illinois, including required tests and coursework. 
  • Demonstrate record of success with low-income students and/or students in urban populations.
  • Highly qualified as defined by the Every Student Succeeds Act and fully compliant with Illinois State Law.
  • Have a passionate belief in Chicago Collegiate's mission and an unwavering belief that all students, regardless of demographics, can achieve at the highest academic levels.
  • Hold deep knowledge and thoughtfulness on building student's social skills, willing and able to work across multiple grade levels.
  • Evidence of excellent organizational skills with a data-driven orientation and focus on results.
  • A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture. 
  • Strong communication skills with individuals of varying backgrounds.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.
  • Strong evidence of self-awareness, humility, openness to feedback, grit, gratitude and a sense of humor.
  • A positive, high-energy attitude and the ability to problem-solve and maintain a solutions oriented approach.
Nice-To-Haves
  • Prior experience working as a social worker, school counselor.
  • Former outstanding teacher for low-income children of color who has demonstrated quantifiable and objective student performance gains that are stellar.
