For the 2019-20 school year, we will employ over 50 staff members and serve almost 500 students. We will grow to graduate our first 12th grade class in the spring of 2021. 
ABOUT YOU  
As the assistant principal, you are a direct contributor to the school's academic success, consistent and joyful college-going culture, and partnership with families. You  will assist the principal in implementing the school's instructional and cultural priorities to ensure we are on track to achieving our mission of 100% of our students graduating from a four-year college within six years of their high school graduation. 
What your day to day might look like
  • Own the overall responsibility for every student making dramatic achievement gains and that the school meets ambitious performance goals set by the Principal.
  • Achieve dramatic improvement and success on an absolute scale with student academic performance. 
  • Support, monitor, and sustain the high standards of a rigorous school climate and a joyful, caring, calm achievement-oriented college-going school culture. 
  • Ensure rigorous academic performance in every classroom every day.
  • Ensure smooth operation of all school operational systems without excuses or exceptions.
  • Teach and lead professional development sessions throughout the year that drive significant student achievement gains.
  • Mediate and manage the sometimes conflicting demands of school constituencies.
  • Ensure that Chicago Collegiate fulfills its mission and ultimate vision that all students graduate from a four-year college of their choice within six years of high school graduation.
  • Support and manage a cohort of teachers and other teacher leader positions as designated.
  • Support the professional development and growth of all teaching staff. 
  • Cultivate and sustain positive relationships with families.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student and teacher performance, ensuring strong student-focused decisions driven by data.
  • Participate in supporting the school's culture and instructional program on a daily basis. 
  • Develop staff members in a way that ensures that everyone is maximally effective and driving towards our mission every day.
Requirements
  • Hold at least a Bachelor's degree and have at least three years of prior teaching experience.
  • Be a results-driven leader with demonstrated record of leading adult teams to success, including experience in and commitment to maintaining rigorous academic standards and building a joyful, no-excuses culture simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build bridges with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Be a solutions-oriented strategic thinker who has experience overcoming complex organizational challenges in the face of challenging opposition.
  • Be open and humble to feedback, and have a strong sense of ownership and personal responsibility, and desire to learn from mistakes.
  • Demonstrate high levels of Chicago Collegiate's core values of excellence, courage, grit, pride and zest.
  • Experience coaching and developing teachers toward dramatic academic gains in low-income communities.
  • Have an unyielding belief in and zest for the school's mission, purpose, philosophy, and performance.
Nice-To-Haves
  • Prior school administrative leadership such as a dean, assistant principal,, etc.
  • Former outstanding teacher for low-income children of color who has demonstrated quantifiable and objective student performance gains that are stellar.
