Supervise the district's special education programming as designed for students with low incidence disabilities, including Autism, Intellectual Disability and Multiple Disabilities in in K-12 schools through consultation, coordination, evaluation, and planning. Assists staff to provide equal and inclusive educational opportunities to special education needs children in accordance with federal and state law.

Salary:
Support Administrator Salary Schedule Level 2 Step 11 (starting at $101, 863/annually)

Qualifications:
- Candidate must possess five years of successful teaching experience in the field of Special Education - Administration, an advanced degree (at minimum, a master's degree with preference for a doctoral degree), and PA - Certification as a Special Education Supervisor.
- Prior, successful, experience at a central administrative level.
- Prior staff development experience.
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania standards, initiatives and assessments.
- Knowledge of special education programs.
- Excellent presentation and writing skills.
- Extensive knowledge of content-based pedagogy, assessment and technology.
- Demonstrates excellent leadership qualities and effective communication skills with all employees.

Essential Job Functions:
A. Supervise and administer all district programs for children with disabilities under the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
1. Become knowledgeable about the developments and trends in special education,
Instructional management and supervision, including attendance at meetings and
training.
2. As frequently as necessary, provide information related to due process and dispute
resolution procedures and IDEA requirements to administrators, teachers, and parents,
including information on resolution sessions and mediation and the availability and
desirability of pre-due process mediation.
3. Consult with teaching staff to determine needs of specific students and the program.
4. Ensure that personnel are held accountable and responsible for meeting established
timelines set forth in IDEA, including those for due process procedures
5. Consult with teachers to determine instructional materials and supplies needed for the program.
6. Collaborate with school and district level curriculum committees to develop plans and
recommendations for the inclusion of students with disabilities in all aspects of the
educational program.
7. Collaboratively and actively participate and support any special education related initiative, including but not limited to PASA, ESY, Transition to Kindergarten, and Fee for Service Model.
B. Provide on-going, regularly scheduled consultation to special and regular education
personnel in the district.
1. On a regular basis, visit special and regular education classrooms to observe
effectiveness of the instructional program.
a. Determine whether instruction corresponds to goals and objectives of the
student's individualized education program (IEP) and the state curriculum
standards.
b. Determine if materials, technology and other supports are available and are
adequately and properly used.
c. Confer with teachers to provide technical assistance for improvement of
instructional skills and behavior management in collaboration with the curricular, behavioral and teams for students with autism at PSE.
2. On a regular basis, consult with teaching staff to assure that specific needs of the
student are met.
C. Coordinates the process and procedures for referral, placement, review, and
transfer of special education students.

2. Participate in staffing where a change in educational placement is being considered by the IEP team
3. Design and implement Child Find activities in accordance with state and federal
guidelines
D. Provide on-going consultative assistance, in conjunction with assigned special education teachers, to regular education teachers serving students with disabilities.
1. As frequently as necessary, hold discussions with all teachers who have
students with disabilities in regular education classes. 2. Make appropriate referrals to PSE support teams
E. Maintain information on and liaison with other public and private agencies and individuals who provide services to students with disabilities in the district, including transition aged students
F. Participate and provide leadership, as appropriate, in the development of the district special education programming
and special education budget for approval by the district superintendent.
G. Serve as a local liaison with parents and with parent organizations, including school-based parent centers.
H. Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support relative RISE components
I. Other duties as assigned.
