Elementary School Assessment Project Manager

The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has set ambitious goals to ensure that every childin every school and every neighborhoodhas access to a world-class learning experience from birth, resulting in graduation from high school, college and career-ready.

  • Manage the CPS vendor relationship with NWEA, including but not limited to project management, contract management, and vendor professional development allocation
  • Manage all aspects of the successful administration of tests in the NWEA product suite of assessments, including MAP Growth, MAP Growth K-2, and MAP Skills
  • Manage the successful administration of the state-required literacy and math assessments in grades 3 - 8 (currently the PARCC exam)
  • Collaborate with the Office of Access and Enrollment to plan, schedule and facilitate all weekend administrations and out-of-towner testing of the NWEA assessment for purposes of student Selective Enrollment applications
  • Collaborate across offices and departments on elementary school assessment policy and implementation, including but not limited to coordinating with the Office of Network Support (ONS), the Office of Language and Cultural Education (OLCE), the Office of Diverse Learner Supports Services (ODLSS), and Information Technology Services (ITS)
  • Facilitate the cleaning, validating, and reporting of student assessment data to support district priorities by liaising with the School Quality Measurement and Information Technology Services (ITS) teams
  • Design and lead professional learning for school test coordinators and technology coordinators in preparation for assessment administration
  • Design school, teacher and parent facing communications and assessment resources


In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the REACH Performance Task Manager must possess the following qualifications:

Type of Education Required
:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in education, program evaluation, public policy, or equivalent fields
  • A Master's Degree in the above fields is preferred but not required
Type of Experience and Number of Years:
  • 5 years work experience in education, with 2+ years in project management roles preferred
  • 3 years advanced working knowledge of large-scale urban district implementation preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Exceptional organization and project-management abilities - project management certification a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced MS Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and Chicago Public Schools assessment law and policy
  • Knowledge of the principles of assessment design
  • Experience working in a large urban school district
  • Ability to conduct multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to design and lead adult learning
  • Ability to communicate, both written and orally, to a broad range of audiences, including policy makers, district leadership, and school-based staff
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills essential
  • Familiarity with information technology a plus
Additional Requirements: This position will require Chicago residency within six months from acceptance.
