Qualifications for Non-Certified Substitute:

Must be 21 years old with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
If under the age of 21; must have a minimum of 24 semester hours of earned college credit

Steps to Substituting in Richland County School District One:

1. A completed Richland County School District One Online Application.
2. Submit official transcript: GED, high school diploma or college degree to Richland School District One, Office of Human Resource Services, 1616 Richland Street, Columbia, S.C. 29201.
3. Schedule to attend a Training & Orientation session (Approximately 4 to 5 hours) with Substitute Services by contacting the Substitute Supervisor, Alfredia Boyd at (803)231-7425 or by email, Alfredia.boyd@richlandone.org.
