Early Childhood Education Data Manager

Reporting directly to the Director of Programs, the Data Manager will be expected to lead the data team and maintain high quality Early Childhood data system to ensure that our priorities and goals are on-track, providing high quality education to all children served. The Data Manager will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Manage Early Childhood data team and provide relevant and timely data to various stakeholders such as the Mayor's office, CEO, Chief Officer, Network Chief Officers, principals, and teachers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate application collection for the Chicago Early Learning Preschool enrollment process by identifying process improvements, setting priorities, and anticipating and/or flagging potential process issues.
  • Ensure that schools and administrative staff have a thorough understanding of the Chicago Early Learning Preschool enrollment process and receive necessary data in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with other CPS departments and Department of Family Support Services (DFSS) to ensure all business requirements are met.

  • M a na g e d a t a collection process on t he d ep ar t m en t s' p r o g r am qua l it y and child assessment and provide accurate reports to various stakeholders.
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of long range research plans by working with external researchers as needed to assist various external projects.
  • Identify trends/anomalies in the data collected to understand the source of data inaccuracies.
  • Facilitate relationships and support to other departments' specific data requests.


In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Data Manager must possess the following qualifications:

  • Ability to respond accurately, comprehensively, and clearly to questions from various audiences.
  • Proficiency in SAS, SQR, R, STATA, or other statistical software.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Extensive experience managing and analyzing large, complex datasets.
  • Ability to write advanced queries and produce reports.
  • Extremely detail-oriented.
  • Ability to meet competing deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work activities to ensure project completion.
  • Self-motivated with high ethical standards.
  • Familiarity of CPS data systems is a plus.


Education :

  • A Bachelor's degree in education, measurement, psychology, social science, public policy, economics, or related field including quantitative coursework; Master's or Doctoral degree strongly preferred.


Experience:

  • 7 years of data mining, data analysis, and database management experience.
