Before/After School Assistant Director

SUMMARY Provide assistance to the Director in all aspects of managing the School Age Enrichment Programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Site Director, SAE Coordinator and/or Administrator.

Assist Program Director in managing and maintaining daily operations of Before and After School Program. Including but not limited to: formal attendance, enrollment/assist with registration process, ensure daily safety of children, appropriate staff-to-child ratio and effectively handling student discipline.

Assist Program Director with the following administrative duties as assigned; collection of tuition, building use, CCAP billing, deposits, staff schedules, etc.

Responsible for understanding, implementing and maintaining all District, SAE, Colorado Department of Human Services and Health Department policies and procedures, including all required licensing expectations.

Maintain required certification and training as required by District and State childcare laws, such as CPR/First Aid, Universal Precautions, etc.

Regularly substitute at other SAE sites on a short or long term assignments.

Establish and maintain open, collaborative and supportive relationships with all staff, including elementary school staff, children, parents and SAE Central Office. Lead by example to foster team work and act with integrity to maintain a professional work environment.

Coordinate and implement age-appropriate activities for students. Engage students in enrichment activities, games, field trips, and homework.

Communicate program information and respond to phone calls, e-mails and written correspondence. Attend and participate in assigned meetings.

Secure building, equipment, and program per District and department guidelines. Ensure areas and equipment used by program are cleaned and maintained.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE Previous working experience in before and after school program, including knowledge of child care licensing rules and regulations preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS Must be 21 years old and meet one of the following criteria:

A four year college degree, with a major such as recreation, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education, or a subject in the human service field.

Two years of college training and 6 months of satisfactory and verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time, paid or volunteer, experience, since attaining the age of 18, in the care and supervision of 4 or more children.

Three years of satisfactory and verifiable full time or equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience since attaining the age of 18 in the care of 4 or more children. If employee meets this qualification, employee must complete 6 semester hours, 9 quarter hours in course work from a regionally accredited college or university or 40 clock hours of training in course work applicable to school age children within the first 9 months of employment.

Must be available to open programs a minimum of 3 mornings per week and close program every afternoon (Monday-Friday).

Must be flexible and available for short and long term subbing assignments at all SAE Sites.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Normal routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying (ability to move tables and other furniture to set up site program), climbing, hearing, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that can not always be anticipated. Ability to meet physical needs of students.
Additional Information

  • Director Sub/Assistant Director position is located at Van Arsdale Elementary (Arvada, CO) with the Before and After School Program
  • Regularly substitute at other SAE sites on short or long term assignments.
  • Shifts may vary but are generally Monday-Friday 6:30 am - 9:30am and 2pm - 6pm
  • $14.90 -$15.80 per hour based on education and experience
  • 35-40 hour per week/Benefits eligible
