   License and Certification Qualifications: Georgia certification at the S-5 Level or Non-Renewable School Counseling certificate required.

Education Qualifications: Master's degree in related field required.

Experience Qualifications: Previous counseling experience in a related field in developing and implementing programs leading to improved outcomes for admission to college/technical school/armed forces or work-force development preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Knowledge of basic counseling skills, management, and leadership; ability to work with individuals, small groups, classroom groups, and collaboratively with stakeholders; ability to communicate effectively; demonstrated skills in oral and written communication; demonstrated skills in organization and problem solving; ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement; and ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for supporting local college and career academy schools and district office personnel through consultation, collaboration, and programming that identifies and supports best practices for a developmental college and career program.

1. Ensure that students within each academy are informed of job shadowing, work-based learning opportunities, pathway completion, dual enrollment, advanced placement, and industry certification opportunities.

2. Monitor the use of an individualized student plan which documents student progress from middle school to high school and from high school to post-secondary education and careers.

3. Develop an articulation plan for parent and student induction into the academy model in conjunction with the high school orientation programs.

4. Coordinate an advisement plan in conjunction with the counselors which allows monitoring of academic progress and promotes a supportive school environment, to include relationship building, social media savvy, healthy living, coping with bullying, as well as career related activities and opportunities.

5. Oversee and serve as the point person for a specified career cluster and become the content expert for workforce development as it relates to the progression from middle school to gainful employment in that career area.

6. Collaborate within the College and Career Academy school to promote the mission and vision of college and career academy schools.
a. Provide support by using kid talk procedures as is appropriate, compile data of pathway completion at academy model schools, and support district and school improvement goals for student growth and achievement, and college and career readiness.

7. Demonstrate program accountability using data to document the results of strategies and interventions that are used to improve student academic performance.

8. Develop programs, in conjunction with the counseling department, to ensure on-time graduation for all students which includes appropriate interventions.

9. Maintain a positive culture to support student achievement.

c. Assist learners to develop goals and strategies to meet their potential.
d. Encourage positive home and school communications.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.
