    A person hired for a temporary position may also become a temporary employee upon satisfactory completion of the initial probation period of at least six months. Once a temporary employee, you would be eligible to apply for promotion and transfer opportunities to permanent as well as other temporary positions. You may also enjoy other rights and benefits as afforded to an employee in a permanent position, with the exception of return rights and placement rights associated with a reduction-in-force.
  • Summary:
    Serves as liaison between school and project staff and target group parents; provides language and cultural assistance; and performs other duties as required.
  • Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Note: Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40-hour workweeks. Part-time experience is pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.

    To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
  • General Experience Requirement:
    Two (2) years of paid or volunteer work experience in which the applicant worked with individuals and groups and was required to possess the following ability or demonstrated same:

    a) Understand and explain various materials related to the program/project/activity.

    b) Establish and maintain rapport with individuals and groups and encourage participation in program/project activities.

    c) Speak effectively with individuals and groups and to elicit pertinent information. d) Plan and conduct group information sessions.

    e) Prepare activity reports.

    f) Recognize and identify basic individual human needs.

    *Specialized Experience Requirement:
    One (1) year of experience that provided the applicant with the following:

    a) Knowledge of local culture that is generally gained by participating in daily living activities in the local community.

    b) Knowledge of Ilocano or Tagalog. Such knowledge may have been gained by participating in normal daily living activities in one of these communities.

    c) Ability to speak, read, write, and understand Ilocano or Tagalog language. Such ability may have been gained by participating in normal daily living activities in one of these communities.

    d) Ability to establish and maintain rapport with Ilocano or Tagalog communities.

    *License Requirement:
    Some positions require possession of a valid Driver's License - Type 3. The immediate vacancy has this requirement.

    *Substitutions Allowed:
    1. Successful completion of a one (1) year Human Services Curriculum leading to a certificate of Achievement at an accredited Community College and which included field experience in Community Service may be substituted for one (1) year of general experience.

    2. Successful completion of a two (2) year Human Services Curriculum leading to a degree at an accredited Community College and which included field experience in Community Service may be substituted for the general experience requirement.

    3. Partial completion of a substantially full-time Human Services Curriculum at an accredited Community College and which included field experience in Community Service may be substituted for the general experience on a month-for-month basis.
