The United Schools Network (USN) is a nonprofit organization in Columbus, Ohio, that starts and manages urban public charter schools that close the achievement gap. The network includes two high-performing middle schools, a high-performing elementary school, and is launching a second elementary school in the fall of 2017. We are seeking a Major Gifts Manager to join our network.

The Major Gifts Manager position is a full-time position designed to identify, qualify, cultivate and direct stewardship of donors with a gift capacity of $2,500 or more to support both Phase II of the capital campaign and major gifts initiative for school programs. The effective Major Gifts Manager's warm personality and proactive approach will engage a portfolio of individual, foundation, and corporate donors in supporting these initiatives. Ensuring the development team works cohesively to implement a calendar of opportunities to connect donor passions to the USN mission will be a primary responsibility of the position. The Major Gifts Manager must be highly organized, able to effectively manage multiple priorities, and work effectively with the network and school leadership teams, the Board of Trustees, donors, students and alumni with sensitivity and professionalism. The Manager reports to the Development Director.

    Joining Our Team
    United Schools Network will consider hiring a full-time Major Gifts Manager who:

    Donor Relations

    • Utilizes management strategy to effectively track the donor journey for Major Gifts cultivation.
    • Manages a portfolio of 75 - 85 major donors, for both program and capital initiatives.
    • Provides leadership and support for campaigns and major gifts.
    • Serves as a frontline fundraiser in closing five-figure, six-figure, and seven-figure gifts.
    • Coordinates prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
    • Oversees campaign management and organization including pipelines, prospect tracking, strategy, task assignment and maintenance of timelines.
    • Maintains master campaign calendar to maximize cultivation events.
    • Directs the design and production of campaign materials and collateral (customized donor proposals, campaign brochures, renderings, signage, etc.) as appropriate with the campaign timeline.
    • Schedules meetings, prepares talking points, assembles presentations and full meeting preparation for Board members, campaign volunteers, and USN staff.
    • Coordinates appropriate gift stewardship activities with the Stewardship Associate.
    • Accurately records prospect/donor information and contacts in the database.

    • Has a Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of proven major gift fundraising experience (required).
    • Has technological proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.


    Terms of Employment
