GENERAL PURPOSE
Provides custodial services at assigned site; ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors; performing a variety of special cleaning operations; preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events; and completing assignments in a safe, proper, and timely manner.

GENERAL PURPOSE
Provides custodial services at assigned site; ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors; performing a variety of special cleaning operations; preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events; and completing assignments in a safe, proper, and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds thereby maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive learning environment.
- Consult with administrative and other custodial personnel for the purpose of planning, prioritizing, and scheduling custodial activities and achieving site maintenance objectives.
- Inspect facilities to ensure the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, identifying necessary repairs to facilities and/or equipment, etc.
- Maintain supplies and equipment to ensure the availability of custodial items required for properly maintained facilities.
- Perform minor, job related, maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture and fixtures to ensure proper functionality and usability of items and facilities.Replenish classroom and restroom supplies.
- Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns by taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Support other site maintenance staff.
- Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
Education and Experience
- Enrolled as a current Springfield Public Schools student
- At least sixteen years of age or older
- Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
- Must pass a Pre-Employment Proficiency Test.
- Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge based competencies required to perform the functions of the job include products and materials used in a school setting.
- Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
- Skill based competencies required to perform the functions of the job, including operating equipment and materials used in industrial maintenance; adhering to safety practices; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to read technical information and compose a variety of documents.
- Ability to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
- Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups.
- Ability to analyze issues and create action plans.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
- Ability to apply critical thinking/problem solving to improve work processes.

- Work environment is indoors and outdoors with regular exposure to weather conditions; in proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical equipment; and in confined spaces.
- The work is heavy work that requires exerting up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
- Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
