SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS 

The Floral Park-Bellerose Union Free School District, comprised of approximately 1,550 students, in two schools, Floral Park-Bellerose Elementary School and John Lewis Childs Elementary School, house grades PreK-6 on a neighborhood basis. Students continue their education for grades 7-12 at Floral Park Memorial High School, which is part of the Sewanhaka Central High School District. The Floral Park-Bellerose district provides a continuum of programs, placements, and related services to meet the needs of children across the entire educational continuum.

The successful candidate for this position will be:

• A compassionate, empathetic, and visible leader who is committed to being part of the Floral Park Bellerose family, and who has experience in elementary schools as a teacher, building, and central office administrator;
• An energetic educator, familiar with working in a small school district and tight-knit community, whose skills include, but are not limited to, effective communication, collaboration and transparent decision-making, budget management, school safety and security, and trust-building among all constituent groups;
• A forward-thinking administrator with experience in developing programs, as well as the professional development associated with the implementation and sustainability of these programs, with respect to Special Education, English as a New Language, Gifted and Talented, and rigorous general education programs that will benefit all students;
• An educational leader who has been successful in training, developing, and supervising staff to meet high expectations for professional practice and performance; and
• An approachable and collaborative administrator with effective interpersonal skills, who is highly visible in the schools and community, and is able to work well with the Board of Education, community, parents, faculty, staff, and students.

New York State certification as a School District Leader or School District Administrator is required, and the School Board is offering a regionally competitive salary.
