POSITION SUMMARY
The Cluster Superintendent provides strategic leadership and oversight to school principals within assigned clusters, ensuring operational excellence and driving student achievement. This role involves conducting regular school visits, delivering targeted coaching, and holding principals accountable for their performance and development. The Superintendent also leads the resolution of complex school issues, actively engages with the community and stakeholders, and fosters a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement across all schools in the cluster

This positions reports to the Chief of Schools. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Leads Supervision and Rigorous Evaluation of School Principals to Drive Performance and School Improvement

  • Direct and hold accountable principals for the effective implementation and evaluation of instructional and curricular programs, ensuring alignment with district goals.
  • Oversee and assess the quality of district and school instructional programs across all assigned schools.
  • Cultivate a culture of high expectations within assigned clusters, schools, and teams.
  • Evaluate principals based on school performance, academic growth, operational efficiency, and community engagement.
  • Ensure alignment and coherence between district and school-level instructional initiatives.
  • Conduct weekly school and classroom visits, providing ongoing feedback and coaching to principals and school leaders.
  • Develop and implement targeted strategies to improve student achievement in priority schools and address inequities among subgroups within cluster schools, ensuring alignment with the Board's Equity Policy to maintain an organizational focus on equity.

Serves as the primary point of contact for resolving school-related issues and addressing escalated matters within your assigned cluster.

  • Lead the resolution of complex school issues, including disciplinary actions, parent concerns, staff conflicts, and operational challenges.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated matters, ensuring timely and effective intervention.
  • Coordinate with school principals, district leaders, and relevant departments to develop and implement solutions to resolve school issues.
  • Monitor and follow up on the resolution of issues to ensure they are effectively addressed and closed.
  • Ensure principals are equipped with the tools and strategies to handle issues at the school level effectively.
  • Facilitate the sharing of best practices among schools to prevent and manage similar issues across the cluster.
  • Maintain accurate records of all escalated matters, resolutions, and communications with stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed reports for district leadership on trends, outcomes, and recommendations for improving school operations and issue management.
  • Review and analyze data related to school issues to identify patterns and develop strategies for systemic improvements.

Leads Instructional Excellence Across Schools

  • Conduct in-depth analysis and evaluation of school effectiveness.
  • Provide strategic feedback to shape and refine School Improvement Plans.
  • Leverage assessment tools and data to rigorously monitor and drive progress across clusters and schools.
  • Guide principals in interpreting achievement data to identify and address curriculum and instructional gaps.
  • Enforce data-driven decision-making to implement corrective measures or sustain performance improvements.
  • Manage and resolve parent/family complaints, actively engaging in meetings to address concerns.
  • Facilitate training and coaching opportunities for school principals.
  • Execute and facilitate onboarding and orientation for new school principals.

Leads Cluster Efforts to Enhance Accountability and Operational Excellence

  • Drive collaboration with the Academics Division to enhance services supporting teaching and learning.
  • Coordinate with the Assessment Department on College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) and graduation requirements.
  • Lead partnership with the Human Resources Division in developing, coaching, and making hiring recommendations for school principals.
  • Oversee collaboration with the Finance Division to develop and implement school budgets, ensuring optimal resource utilization in line with district practices.
  • Ensure alignment with the Technology Department for the effective use of technology resources.
  • Manage collaboration with the Operations Division to address and resolve building needs.
  • Engage actively in district meetings, committees, and task forces, leading or supporting initiatives as needed, including beyond regular work hours.

Completes other tasks and duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree required
  • Specialist or higher degree is preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain Georgia Professional Standards Commission Certification at a level 5 or higher in Educational Leadership or Instructional/Curriculum Leadership

WORK EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Five (5) years of educational leadership experience in Education, Educational Administration, or related field required;
  • Three (3) years of experience as a principal required

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proven expertise in human resource management and public relations skills
  • Deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and student support services
  • Experience in assessment, data analysis, and utilization
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to coach and develop school leaders and foster a positive school culture
  • Knowledge of budgeting processes at both district and school levels
  • Track record of improving student outcomes and growth
  • Commitment to equity and driving change within the district
  • Proficiency in technology applications

Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities:  Will require travel to multiple sites.
