TEACHING AT PERRY STREET PREP
We are recruiting aides to, under general supervision, assist in the execution of food service and recreational activities for the 2024-2025 school year. The position is a part-time, 10-month position, and $20 an hour. The schedule 10am-2:00pm Monday-Friday

The lunch and recess aide has a variety of responsibilities, including:
  • Under the direct supervision of the administrator and/or designated staff, serve as cafeteria aide
  • Supervises students in the cafeteria, in the halls, on playground, and in other designated areas
  • Oversee students entering the cafeteria, during lunch, and during recess
  • Controls the play and activities of students for the purpose of ensuring safety and accident prevention
  • Assists in maintaining orderly procedures in the serving, seating, care of food, and general conduct of students participating in the school lunch program
  • Abides by and enforce, school rules for discipline
  • Assists students in using facilities and equipment properly
  • Endure indoor/outdoor work environments
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should have the following qualifications and embody the following qualities:
  • High School or GED diploma required
  • Experience working with children of elementary and middle school age
  • Knowledge of applicable school regulations, practices and procedures, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge
  • Some knowledge of the field of child development and student behavior management techniques
  • Ability to interact with students, staff and parents in a manner that demonstrates respect and dignity
  • Ability to effectively monitor elementary and middle school students and to supervise playground and recreational activities
  • Considerable patience and demonstrated skills in working with children
  • Excellent human relations skills
  • Possess a commitment to educating students for academic achievement and empowering students to make healthy lifestyle choices
  • Believe in the capacity of every student for high academic achievement and a commitment to creating a highly structured, effective, and fun learning environment
