POSITION SUMMARY:

Community Training and Assistance Center (CTAC) is seeking a talented individual to join its professional team. The Assistant Controller is a hands-on position, playing a key role in overseeing and addressing all financial aspects of our organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial support for our initiatives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations including accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. Manage grant accounting and reporting processes, including reporting on federal grants. Work closely with program managers to track grant funds, prepare grant budgets, and fulfill reporting requirements specified by federal agencies.
  • Develop and monitor budgets in collaboration with CTAC leadership. Provide regular financial forecasts and analysis to support organizational decision-making.
  • Complete interim and annual performance reporting for federal and other organizational funders.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for CTAC leadership and prepare presentations for the Board of Directors.
  • Lead and manage the annual audit.
  • Provide strategic financial analyses to support organizational effectiveness and sustainability. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.
  • Maintain working relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Accept responsibility proactively for other projects and duties as business needs arise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance (or commensurate experience), MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Five or more years of proven experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager, including budgeting, accounting and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing federal grants, specifically U.S. Department of Education grants preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, GAAP, and compliance requirements.
  • Keen analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting experience is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written); experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior leadership, Board of Directors or other outside partners.
  • Strong technical skills including a high level of proficiency in Excel, Word and accounting applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in virtual and physical office settings.
  • Applicant must be based in or within a commuting distance of the Boston/Worcester metropolitan areas.
