Birch Agency is hiring an Education Diagnostician for a position in Hobbs, NM. Hobbs NM is located on the border of New Mexico and Texas representing the best of the "high desert" with blue sky vistas and spectacular sunsets. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Educational Diagnostician who will be responsible for evaluating students' learning needs, diagnosing educational challenges, and developing personalized instructional strategies to support student success. This role involves working closely with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive educational assessments and evaluations to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, and learning disabilities.
  • Utilize a variety of diagnostic tools and techniques to assess academic skills, cognitive processes, and socio-emotional development.
  • Interpret assessment results and provide detailed reports with recommendations for instructional strategies and interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other specialists to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Monitor and review IEPs regularly to ensure they meet students' evolving needs and comply with legal and educational standards.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to develop effective teaching strategies and accommodations for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Provide ongoing consultation and support to teachers, parents, and administrators regarding best practices in special education and inclusive instruction.
  • Collect and analyze data on student performance to track progress and adjust instructional approaches as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and student progress.
  • Stay current with research and best practices in educational diagnostics and special education.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure all diagnostic processes and documentation comply with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive reports and records as required by law and district policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Educational Diagnostician, Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field. (Masters Preferred)
  • Valid state certification or licensure as an Educational Diagnostician.
  • Experience in educational diagnostics, special education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students of various ages and backgrounds, including those with learning disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of diagnostic assessments, educational evaluations, and intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with educators, parents, and students.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using educational software and technology for assessments and data management.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education and student assessment.
  • Familiarity with current research and best practices in the field of educational diagnostics and special education.
