JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Class: Classified

Dept: School Nutrition

TITLE: Kitchen Equipment Technician

QUALIFICAITONS: High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and education and /or experience in repairing and maintaining restaurant type equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to bend, push, pull, lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must have a current valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
REPORTS TO: School Nutrition Director

JOB GOAL:
An employee in this class performs the full range of duties associated with installation, maintenance and repair of all types of equipment used in cafeterias, including walk in freezers, walk in coolers, stoves, heat cabinets, dishwashers, steamers, brazing pans, ice makers, etc. Employees received work orders indicating the nature of the work to be done. They are expected to determine the materials, tools and repair procedures needed. Limited supervision is given to this employee.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all types of kitchen equipment.
  • Replaces faulty thermostats, wiring, elements, Freon, etc.
  • Install new equipment including plumbing, electrical and venting.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Working knowledge of all types of kitchen equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical wiring and plumbing.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Special Requirements:
  • Requires current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F.
Additional certifications and or credentials as required by the Director of School Nutrition.

Starting Salary and/or Grade: WCPS Salary Schedule

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board and local policy on evaluation of personnel.
