    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
    This Custodian position performs general cleaning and custodial work for the Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) buildings. Custodians work 40+hours a week with a full benefits package. Apply and join our team today!

    EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED :
    • Scrubs, sweeps, dusts, mops and waxes floors.
    • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, showers and dressing rooms.
    • Cleans and polishes furniture.
    • Moves furniture.
    • Washes walls, windows, blinds and fixtures.
    • Collects and disposes of waste and discarded materials.
    • Empties waste baskets.
    • Replenishes restroom supplies.
    • Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
    • Loads and unloads materials from trucks.
    • Sweeps sidewalks, steps and driveways.
    • Keeps ground areas in clean and orderly condition.
    • Cuts and waters lawn.
    • Trims shrubbery.
    • Removes snow from sidewalks, steps and driveways and/or spreads ice control chemicals.
    • Operates custodial and grounds maintenance equipment (vacuum cleaner, power scrubber, snow blower, vacuum sweeper, power mowers, and riding movers).
    • Services and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment.
    • Reports damages and vandalism, fire and safety hazards, blocked exists, defective doors and windows.
    • May be assigned as a power plant trainee.
    • Perform related duties as required.


    Knowledge of :
    • basic math (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
    • basic English sufficient to read and understand directions.

    Ability to :
    • follow written and verbal instructions.
    • learn custodial methods, supplies, materials, chemicals, tools and equipment.
    • learn safety, sanitization and energy-conservation requirement of the Board.
    • work effectively with all types of people.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    One (1) year of satisfactory work experience, preferably in janitorial work, OR completed a training program in janitorial work. Must have a high school diploma or GED.

    Rate of Pay: $17.05/hr

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    Must have a valid Ohio Driver License. Must have physical strength and stamina to lift/carry/move heavy objects weighing as much as 80 pounds. Working conditions include indoor and outdoor environment; exposure to chemicals, dust, and dirt. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (heat and cold), confined spaces and isolated areas. Must be able to work on slippery or uneven surfaces and on ladders and scaffolds.
