Job Title: Coordinator- Special Support Programs

Summary:

Under the direction of the Associate Superintendent for Instructional Support Services, the Coordinator of Special Support Programs will provide leadership in developing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring Out of District Transfers, Safety Awareness Initiatives, Wellness Initiatives, the District's Emergency Operations Plan, LEAP Tutoring and LEAP/GEE Summer Remediation, as well as organizing/supervising and implementing special initiatives assigned by the superintendent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a model of professionalism and communicates educational values.

  • Coordinates administrative actions to correct problems as they may arise.

  • Complete ongoing program documentation.

  • Assist in defining the Special Support Programs missions and goals

  • Evaluate and support staff constructively.

  • Identifies and analyzes relevant information before making decisions or committing resources.

  • Set high expectations and performance standards that lead to the attainment of department goals.

  • Assist with the expulsion appeal process

  • Coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of the District Crisis Management Plan


Transfers
  • Recommends to the Chief Academic Officer specific procedures as they relate to Administrative Transfers

  • Implements transfers within the confines of the school district's goals and policies

  • Direct the dissemination, interpretation and administration of approved transfers

  • Serve as a liaison between the school district and school transportation in allocating bus transportation for out-of -district transfers.

  • Direct the procedures used to properly maintain transfers.

  • Establish and maintain files and documentation of transfers within the district.

  • Analyzes and reports data relative to transfers


Safety
  • Coordinates assessment and professional development activities as it relates to Safety Assessment.

  • Coordinates professional growth opportunities for principals and staff in the area of safety.

  • Provides presentations to personnel on safety concerns.

  • Works with the Associate Superintendent for Instructional Support Services, Assistant Superintendents, and other school personnel in developing and maintaining procedures to assure school system compliance with federal, state and local requirements including procedural safeguards and confidentiality regarding exceptional students.

  • Directs the organization's safety program.

  • Develops, implements, and manages safety programs, policies, and procedures.


Wellness
  • Supervises, develops, and interprets data on wellness.

  • Develop, plan, and implement the Wellness Initiative Programs on site

  • Collaborate with site staff, including site administration and departments to implement Wellness Initiative Programs

  • Attend district-wide Wellness meetings for planning and program feed-back

  • Work with sites to build capacity of staff, students, parents, to integrate and institutionalize Wellness Initiative Programs and activities.

  • Meet with the Wellness Coordinators to review their logs and work plans


Summer School
  • Coordinate the planning and operation of LEAP Tutoring and LEAP/GEE Summer Remediation.

  • Assist with Credit Recovery Summer School.

  • Collaborates with site staff to assure implementation and alignment of programs with state and district policies.

  • Develops and organizes the presentation of meetings, in-service training and staff development.

  • Develops and implements a system to monitor and maintain personnel evaluations for summer school.

  • Selects and assigns appropriate personnel for LEAP Tutoring and LEAP/GEE Summer Remediation.

  • Develops and implement a system to manage the ordering and distribution of all literature concerning summer school

  • Prepares and completes payroll for all summer employees.

  • Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required by the programs.

  • Supervise the implementation of the summer school curriculum

  • Identifies and reports to the Louisiana Department of Education the names and positions (content area and grade level) of all summer school teachers.

  • Manage all budgets related to LEAP Tutoring and LEAP/GEE Summer Remediation.


Special Initiatives
  • Provide and submit reports as required for effective operation of various programs.

  • Provides administrative assistance to immediate supervisor.

  • Performs other related duties as required by the Superintendent and Associate Superintendent for Instructional Support Services, consistent with the other duties and responsibilities outlined in this position description.

Essential Functions/Qualifications/Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. The coordinator must possess supervisory certification.
