Job Description
Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union is seeking a 0.50 FTE Elementary School Interdisciplinary Art Teacher at Flood Brook School to work collaboratively with elementary school teachers to develop and deliver integrated units of study. This position is intended to provide capacity for the school to provide interdisciplinary units of instruction to students that combine art and project-based learning with traditional content. As a result of this work, students will demonstrate a diverse range of skills and dispositions toward learning through relevant, engaging, real-world applications. This is a one year position for the 2023/2024 school year.

The 0.50 FTE Elementary School Interdisciplinary Art Teacher requires an educator license to teach grades K - 5. Applicants are expected to have knowledge in current instructional research and evidence-based instructional practices. Strong candidates will demonstrate: a student-centered approach,, a willingness to be flexible and creative regarding instruction and assessment, exemplary oral and written communication skills, and strong relationship building skills with students.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor degree / Holds or is eligible to hold a Vermont Teaching License with appropriate endorsement / Experience in Art instruction / Experience with middle school age students, project-based learning, and collaborative practices. / Copies of transcripts and license(s) must be uploaded to the application for all licensed positions. Successful applicants to Licensed positions will be required to provide official transcripts to Human Resources before completion of the hiring process. / Preferences: 3-02 PreK-12 Art endorsement preferred
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required

    The Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union (BRSU) is a public school system located in southwestern Vermont. The BRSU includes school districts in four Vermont counties and three Vermont technical center regions. The BRSU is the second largest Vermont supervisory union with a total area of approximately 460 square miles. In 2018, BRSU districts have a total combined enrollment of 2,200 students.

    A unique feature of the BRSU is that none of its districts operates a high school. All BRSU districts have high school choice. BRSU districts send students to over 30 public and independent high schools with a large number of BRSU students choosing to attend Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester, VT.
