School Location: Cornel Young & Charlotte Woods ES and Alfred Lima ES

Elementary Teachers Summer Learning Program 2023

Elementary Teachers (Up to 80 positions) in both shifts
PD Dates June 28, 29, 30, 2023 and August 18, 2023
Program Dates: July 10 - August 17, 2023
Hours: Monday to Friday from 7:45 am - 12:15 pm (AM shift) and/or 11:45-5:15 (PM shift)
Please Note: A teacher may opt in to do both shifts, however, teacher must commit for entire double shift schedule during the Summer Elementary Learning Program

The Teacher is a specialist in ELA, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. The teacher provides high-level support and engaging instruction to students.
Teachers with MLL or SPED certificates are preferred.

Teaching positions are based upon enrollment and funding. A minimum of 10 students is required to run a course.

$40.00 Per hour Contingent upon funding

Please Note: Selected candidates will be required to attend a two-hour onboarding session to be held on June 14 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Candidates who fail to attend that session will not be eligible to work in the summer Learning program. A communication detailing times and location will be sent prior to the on-boarding session.

Current/valid RI Teacher Certificate in the appropriate subject area (Elem. KG-1 or Elem. 1-6)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES
  • Create a fun, engaging and safe learning environment for K-5 students
  • Implement a district summer learning curriculum to K-5 students focused on ELA, Mathematics, and STEAM
  • Provide direct service for whole group, small group, and individual instruction based on student needs
  • Administer and interpret educational assessments
  • Implement a range of effective math and ELA evidenced-based instructional strategies and interventions
  • Differentiate instruction by developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students
  • Promote a classroom atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all students
  • Monitor and evaluate student outcomes maintaining appropriate records and following all required procedures and practices
  • Participate fully in a professional community including common planning, professional development, and self-reflection/evaluation
  • Supervise students in a range of settings; protect and promote the safety and well-being of students, colleagues, equipment, materials/facilities
  • Communicate and interact appropriately and professionally with students, colleagues, parents, and the community
  • Continuously develop and evolve teaching practice and support colleagues in their development
  • Must commit to working all days of program as part of Summer Learning program requirements
  • Must commit to attend all professional development days as part of Summer Learning program requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
  • Current/valid RI Teacher Certificate in the appropriate subject area (Elem. KG-1 or Elem. 1-6) MLL and/or SPED certifications preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited teacher education program
  • Prior experience in in delivering high quality, standards-based Mathematics, ELA or STEAM instruction in a fun and engaging manner, urban setting preferred
  • Ability differentiate and scaffold instruction to support and accelerate learning
  • An asset-based view of diverse cultures and a belief in growth mindset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
