Bilingual Cyber Teacher

The Bilingual Cyber Teacher facilitates the education of students in a virtual environment. This individual monitors progress toward daily goals and assists students in need of academic support. The Cyber Teacher hosts daily virtual homeroom sessions, works with individual students to establish and maintain academic goals and tracks students' completed lessons daily to ensure that they are completing assignments in a timely manner. This person is also responsible for student and parent outreach and for maintaining a positive and encouraging attitude with students. This position is a Part-time position.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive learning environment for students, parents and school district
• Monitor students' daily progress in overall coursework, helping to establish goals and tracking progress toward those goals
• Identify areas in need of additional academic support and provide that instructional support within your content area or initiate that support from another content area teacher, if necessary
• Communicate announcements regarding Cyber School, testing, assignments and other pertinent information
• Facilitate homeroom sessions daily at scheduled times
• Maintain homeroom attendance logs
• Report absenteeism to parents and school districts
• Review and record student's daily log and activity report
• Coordinate instructional support for students with online content teachers
• Grade and track completed online tasks and test scores

• Ability to learn new technology skills, solve hardware/software problems and find new ways to incorporate new technology into learning
• Excellent communication skills
• Persuasive skills that encourage students to complete assignments
• Ability to raise and maintain expectations for student performance

Education and Experience

• Valid NM Teaching Certificate
• Must be Bilingual (Spanish and English)
• Evidence of Federal Background Check within the past year
• Previous experience educating students in an online environment
• Experience tutoring or working with students in a one-on-one setting
• Computer literacy with knowledge of online instruction is essential
• Classroom teaching experience preferred
