Broomfield High School:   Located in the northwest Denver area, Broomfield High is a four-year comprehensive high school with an enrollment of approximately 1600 students. Broomfield High student athletes compete in the Front Range League and the 5A state classification. Our athletic programs are highly competitive, regularly compete in state tournaments, and have won many state championships and produced numerous individual state champions. In addition, our visual and performing arts programs are extremely strong. These programs are regularly recognized for their success in state competitions. Summary:

A BVSD Assistant Principal/Athletic Director assists the building principal as a member of the school's administrative team assists the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive, safe environment that is conducive to best meeting the needs of all students, staff and parents. This includes such responsibilities as: leading, directing, counseling, and supervising a variety of personnel and programs; creating effective parent, teacher, and child communications; supporting, encouraging, mentoring, and evaluating staff; fostering teamwork between teachers and among staff and parents; and managing budget items.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage athletics and activities: Hire, supervise and evaluate athletic coaches and club sponsors; develop and maintain athletic schedules, including the scheduling of transportation needs and game officials; oversee the building athletic budget, activity accounts, and fundraised dollars; manage facilities, including routine care and critical or long-term maintenance issues with district maintenance staff; development and maintenance of parent and community partnerships; verify eligibility of athletes; and follow all rules and regulations as outlined by CHSAA.
  • Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school and assume leadership of the school in the absence of the principal as necessary.
  • Serve as instructional leader: Conducts high quality classroom observations, identifies effective teaching practices, understands pedagogy that results in improved student learning, and supports differentiated opportunities for learning and growth. Engages in regular data informed decision making cycles.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly school environment that meets the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of each student. Ensures that student conduct and attendance conforms with the school's standards and school district policies.
  • Relates to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective discipline policy. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Supports the safety and security of the school building. Oversees building emergency response plans and coordinates drills with local law enforcement. Assists in the management of school facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus.
  • Create and support a culture of equity and inclusion that values, accepts, and understands diversity and the impact of culturally responsive practices. Understand and identify barriers in classroom instructional practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented groups of students.
  • Evaluate and supervise school personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing meaningful and actionable feedback, and providing access to job embedded professional learning.
  • Assists in the preparation of the master schedule, staff assignments, student scheduling, accumulative records, and attendance reports.
  • Supervises school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events. Supervises arrival/dismissal, cafeteria/recess duties and/or other operational functions as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Currently hold a Colorado Principal License or have licensure application in process (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
  • Completed BVSD Online Application.
  • High school or college level coaching or athletic department experience.
  • Minimum of three years experience as a teacher and/or administrator.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred:

  • Basic Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)
  • Current knowledge of best instructional and coaching practices.
  • Strong planning, organization, motivation, management, supervision and evaluation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation, problem solving, and conflict management.
  • Experience in supervision and evaluation of instructional staff.
  • Experience in handling student discipline at the high school level.
  • Knowledge of Colorado school law as it pertains to discipline, attendance and student crisis.

 

Salary Information:

Salary Range 11: *$97,191 - $145,786

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule). BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process.
