JOB DESCRIPTION
Integrated Health Professional Learning Grant Coordinator will work to support the current and continued efforts of educational grants awarded to the Providence Public School Department including, but not limited to, the Bradley Project AWARE (Advancing Wellness and Resiliency in Education) 3.0 Grant and School-Based Mental Health Services Grant Program. The Coordinator will work closely with the Director of SEL and Mental Health, MTSS, School Social Worker and School Psychologist Specialists and the Bradley and RIDE Grant Coordinators to manage the development and implementation of all aspects of integrated health professional learning goals and grants at the district level. The Coordinator will also work with other participating districts and PPSD departments to monitor, evaluate and showcase grant data, efforts, and outcomes in order to support continuous improvement of SEL and mental health professional learning and growth, wellness processes and policies, and student and staff support and services.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) awarded the Project AWARE (Advancing Wellness and Resiliency in Education) state education grant to the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE). This grant provides financial and technical assistance to achieve the following objectives: (1) increase awareness of mental health issues among school-aged youth (2) provide training for school personnel and other adults who interact with school-aged youth to detect and respond to mental health issues (3) connect school aged youth, who may have behavioral health issues (including serious emotional disturbance [SED] or serious mental illness [SMI]), and their families to needed services. In 2022, Bradley Hospital was awarded the Project AWARE 3.0 Grant to support continued progression and momentum of mental health awareness, enhanced mental health literacy, and student and family access to a continuum of mental health services established through the 2018 -2023 Project AWARE grant agreement and partnership with RIDE. PPSD was awarded the opportunity to continue this work and partner with Bradley Hospital. This partnership and opportunity will greatly benefit Providence youth, families, and schools, and support a continued commitment to building the infrastructure at the district-level that drives social emotional learning (SEL) and mental health across a multi-tiered system of supports. The Integrated Health Professional Learning Grant Coordinator will work directly with Bradley to maintain the aligned goals of PPSD and the Project AWARE 3.0 grant.

The United States Department of Education (USDOE) awarded the School Based Mental Health (SBMH) Services Program Grant to the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) in 2020 to increase the number of qualified mental health service providers that provide school-based mental health services to students in three local educational agencies with demonstrated need including Providence, RI. The SBMH Services Grant provides financial and technical assistance to achieve the following objectives: (1) Build the capacity of qualified SBMH Service Providers while increasing the overall number of School Based Mental Health service providers (2) Build capacity of School based Teams & Schools to develop & maintain a continuum of mental health supports and meet the needs of all students through an efficient & effective Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (3) Build capacity & sustainability of a continuum of mental health supports within PPSD schools through professional preparation, continuing education and certification pathways that will support an increase in the number of mental health service providers credentialed and certified to work in K-12 schools. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with other SEL & Mental Health Department team members and grant coordinators to align the professional learning goals of the SBMH Services Grant program as they develop, implement, and sustain a district integrated health professional development plan.
