IEP Compliance Specialist
(Teacher on Special Assignment)

General Statement
The IEP Compliance Specialist serves as LEA (Local Education Agency) for PPT (Planning and Placement Team) meetings. The position is to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements as they relate to identification, IEP developments and programming for identified students using the CTSEDS (Connecticut Special Education Data System). The IEP Compliance Support teacher reports to the Supervisors of Special Education.
Qualifications
  • Current CT Special Education or related services certification
  • Minimum (5) years' experience or related services teaching and successful teaching experience
  • Experience in design and implementation of programs in specialized instruction and inclusive best practices
  • Demonstrate up to date familiarity with development and trends in special education, student support services, and inclusive best practices
  • Demonstrate quality leadership

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and consultation to school teams to support students in an inclusive setting
  • Observe and provide consultation, strategies and ideas to parents and providers as to best practices and techniques to ensure that students with disabilities are included in the general education setting and accessing general curriculum
  • The IEP Compliance Support Teacher serves as the central office liaison to the school PPT (Planning and Placement Team) teams
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed to provide strategies that foster inclusion
  • The focus of the position is to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements as they relate to identification, IEP development, and programming for identified students
  • Assist in weekly IEP meetings regarding IEP development, and follow through with issues or technical assistance that is needed
  • Develop and implement trainings to families, school teams as needed
  • Assist with data issues associated with CT SEDS or IEP Direct and collaborate with clerical to ensure meetings are scheduled in a timely manner
  • Assists in implementation of guidelines and procedures associated with IEP process
  • Assist in special education data collection for state reporting
  • Support data collection and assist schools in monitoring and making instructional adjustments for identified students when appropriate
  • Collaborate/assist with staff regarding the IEP development, accommodations, and modifications relevant to special education and general education
  • Collaborate with Special Education Supervisors to support district goals in Special Education
  • Perform other duties as appropriate to the position
