POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Must have or be eligible for certification by the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Hold or be eligible to hold an OTA License through the Colorado Department of Education.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in school settings preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out individual assessments or screening procedures in the area of gross, fine and visual motor coordination, visual perception and daily living skills under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
- Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills (i.e. written reports, school staffings, interagency communication and with colleagues, parents and community).
- COTA's will collaborate with OT to plan, develop and carry out therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant.
- Complete all necessary due process and staffing records required by Elizabeth School District and the Colorado Department of Education.
- Attend school staffings, staff meetings, inservices and other school meetings, when appropriate.
- Demonstrate ability and desire to function as a team member.
- Provide consultation to administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, parents and related agencies.
- Maintain current knowledge and skills required to assess and service the needs of students.
- Maintain a system of documentation that is professional, efficient, accountable and conforms to state and ESD policy.
- Perform other duties, as requested or assigned by the Special Education Director (i.e. preschool/infant screenings, committees or special projects).
