POSITION: Temporary / Substitute School Nurse

Location: Snow Elementary School (PreK)

The purpose of this position is to provide physical and mental health care services for students in the school setting. Responsibilities include but are not limited to direct chronic and emergency patient care, hand-written and electronic documentation, monitor and maintain compliance with state requirements for school enrollment, Medicaid billing; and student and parent education, advocacy and support. The work is performed under the direction of the Director of Pupil Services and Special Education and/or the School Health Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Associates degree in Nursing with at least three (3) years of current pediatric, school, community health, medical surgical, or critical care nursing experience; or, any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Bachelor's degree in Nursing and experience in dealing with complex medical needs preferred. Position requires current Connecticut Registered Nurse License and CPR certification. Position also requires the possession of a valid Connecticut driver's license within 60 days of hire.


Rate of Pay: $35 Per Hour

Schedule:
Monday - Friday
8:15 a.m. -4:15 p.m.
40 hours per week

*Eligible for medical benefits

Duration of Assignment:
Immediately upon filled through the end of the school year

This position works under the supervision of the School Health Supervisor and the Director of Special Education & Pupil Services.. This is a temporary position.
