Greenwich Public Schools is seeking teachers for its 2023 Summer School program, which will run from July 3 - August 4, 2023. A variety of teaching positions, listed below, are anticipated to be available; preference will be given to Greenwich Public Schools teachers contracted for the 2023-24 school year, and then to other Greenwich Public Schools benefits-eligible employees.
  • The Elementary Summer School, for students in Grades PreK-4, will be located at Cos Cob Elementary School.
    • Pre-K teachers will work 8:30 a.m. through 12:15 p.m., which includes 30 minutes of planinng time.
    • Grades K-4 math teachers will work 7:30 a.m. through 10:15 a.m., which includes 30 minutes of planning time.
    • Special services teachers will work 7:30 a.m. through 12:15 p.m., which includes 30 minutes of planning time.
  • The Secondary Summer School, for students in Grades 5-12+, will be located at Eastern Middle School.
    • Algebra Bridge Course teacher & Geometry Bridge Course teacher will work 7:30 a.m. through 11:15 a.m., which includes 30 minutes of planning time.
    • Middle School Math Invited Student Academic Support teacher will work 8:30 a.m. through 11:15 a.m., which includes 30 minutes of planning time.
    • Grades 9-12 ESL teacher will work 7:30 a.m. through 10:15 a.m., which includes 30 minutes of planning time.
    • Special services teachers will work 7:30 a.m. through 12:15 p.m., which includes 30 minutes of planning time.
  • In addition, all Summer School teachers will need to be available on two planning days: June 26-27, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for general education teachers and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for special services teachers.
Compensation for all hours will be at the individual teacher's hourly per diem rate. Positions are dependent on student enrollment.
Positions Anticipated to Be Available
  • Pre-K teachers (2 positions available)
    • Requires CSDE certification in Pre-K and special education (either #112 or #113)
  • Grades K-4 math teachers (2 positions available)
    • Requires CSDE certification to teach students in grades K-5
    • Preference to teachers with training and experience in using Big Ideas Math to teach students mathematics, with experience as a math interventionist, and/or with experience with the Bridges Intervention program
  • Algebra Bridge Course teacher (1 position available)
    • Requires CSDE certification in Mathematics, Grades 7-12 (#029)
  • Geometry Bridge Course teacher (1 position available)
    • Requires CSDE certification in Mathematics, Grades 7-12 (#029)
  • Middle School Math Invited Student Academic Support teacher (1 position available)
    • Requires CSDE certification in Mathematics, Grades 7-12 (#029)
  • Grades 9-12 ESL teacher (1 position available)
    • Requires CSDE certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Grades PreK-12 (#111)
  • Grades K-4 special education teachers (2 positions available)
    • Requires CSDE certification as a special education teacher (either #113 or #165)
  • Grades 5-12 special education teachers (4 positions available)
    • Requires CSDE certification in Comprehensive Special Education, Grades K-12 (#165)
  • Grades K-4 speech & language pathologists (3 positions available)
