Job Description
The BRSU is seeking a 0.50 FTE Library Media Specialist/0.50 FTE Reading Interventionist to serve students at Currier Memorial School in Grades PreK-5. Candidates who champion a growth mindset and promote a sense of inquiry for all students are greatly valued in our educational organization. The selected candidate will possess an ability to ignite students' interest in reading and engage students in meaningful learning opportunities through technology integration.

Library Media Specialists work with the entire school community in their capacity as teachers, instructional partners, information specialists, and program administrators. This professional guides students to develop the full range of information and communication abilities.

Interventionists work with students in a multi-tiered system of supports to help them achieve growth in specific foundational skills in reading and/or mathematics as needs are identified by local assessments. This professional provides targeted intervention in addition to the instruction received by a teacher in the general education setting. The overall intention of this role is to help students develop proficient reading skills that will close gaps and contribute to their academic growth.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor degree Holds or is eligible to hold a Vermont Teaching License with appropriate endorsement(s) Copies of transcripts and license(s) must be uploaded to the application for all licensed positions. Successful applicants to Licensed positions will be required to provide copies of official transcripts to Human Resources before completion of the hiring process. Preferences: Master degree preferred 3-61 PreK-12 School Librarian endorsement and PreK-6; Reading Specialist and/or Special Education are preferred
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required

    The Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union (BRSU) is a public school system located in southwestern Vermont. The BRSU includes school districts in four Vermont counties and three Vermont technical center regions. The BRSU is the second largest Vermont supervisory union with a total area of approximately 460 square miles. In 2018, BRSU districts have a total combined enrollment of 2,200 students.

    A unique feature of the BRSU is that none of its districts operates a high school. All BRSU districts have high school choice. BRSU districts send students to over 30 public and independent high schools with a large number of BRSU students choosing to attend Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester, VT.
