Coretta Scott King WLA is looking for a self motivated Athletic Director with the ability to ensure student success through differentiated instruction. The candidate must be able to create and maintain a climate that promotes respect, tolerance and peaceful problem solving for all students.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Instructs students through lectures, discussions, visual aids, and other effective teaching methods for student comprehension.
- Prepares lessons and outlines to use in class that effectively cover the material.
- Administers various types of assessments to monitor students performance- behavior and other issues.
- Attends faculty meetings and training sessions.
- Coordinates services among school-level personnel which include but not limited to: lodging, meals, towels, gymnasium services, field assistance, medical and emergency services, game officials, and scorer and timer assignments.
- Coordinate training for building coaches and student-athletes.
- Coordinates school level revenue enhancing strategies.
- Enforce and adhere to administrative chain of command.
- Enforce and adhere to legal foundations, risk management, and liability issues.
- Coordinate and maintains school level direct student-athlete recruitment process (NCAA, NAIA)
- Performs any other duties prescribed by APS Department of Athletics, Principal, or Supervisor
- Coordinates and maintains inventory for all sports.
- Coordinates and carries out the support needs and implementation of all school athletic events.
- Coordinates the certification of school level student athletes for Georgia High School Association - Eligibility and Compliance.
- Coordinates transportation scheduling for all athletic events.
- Assist in coordinating transportation for all athletic and intramural events.
- Monitor attendance and Academic progress of all athletes.
- Organize basketball ticket sales, scorekeepers, gym managers, etc.
- Compiles a list of all athletic physicals and insurance for student eligibility.
- Ensure that safety procedures are enforced.
- Assist in the annual evaluation of all coaches.
- Prepares Squad lists to verify student athlete eligibility.
- Assist in recruiting and hiring coaches.
- Monitor ticket sales during sporting events.
- Monitors usage and suitability of equipment, accountability and proper function of equipment.
- Supervision and monitoring of students.
- Support student retention strategies.
- Maintains a current athletic handbook listing detailed information regarding policies, procedures, and practices.
- Require all Lay coaches to follow the District hiring procedures.
- Provide information to the District Public Relations person.
- Attend state, regional, and national meetings whenever possible.
- Will meet with coaches and insure that all sports have an equal and adequate opportunity to present their sports equipment budgets.
- Attend the athletic events of school, to monitor, evaluate, and support athletic events.
- Communicate all pertinent information in a timely fashion to school Principal and other administrators.
- Coordinate timely security and deposits of all revenue from ticket sales.
- Coordinate weekly study halls and tutorial sessions for student athletes.
Requirements :
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree required
CERTIFICATION:
- Minimum of SRT4-Certification in Physical Education (P-5) OR Passed the Prorgam Admissions Assessment or have exemption eligibility AND passed the GACE in Physical Education.
EXPERIENCE:
- One to two years of Athletic Director experience ( Preferred )
- A successful athletic team as a head coach ( Preferred )
