Qualifications:
Required
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
  • Must obtain a Fairfax County Sanitation Certificate during the training period.
  • Must be free of any infectious or communicable disease which, according to a determination by the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, poses a risk of transmission through the handling of food.
  • Ability to learn procedures, practices, operations, and equipment of institutional food preparation.
  • Ability to work in areas which are often uncomfortable.
  • Sufficient visual acuity, strength, and dexterity to manually move, shelve, stack, or raise objects.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written English directions.
  • Courtesy and tact in dealing with students and school personnel.
  • Possession of reliable transportation and willingness to accept assignments at various Fairfax County schools.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred
  • One (1) year of progressive food service experience.
