The Board of Public Education for the City of Savannah and County of Chatham is seeking a Superintendent to lead the 10th largest school district in the state of Georgia. The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) serves a diverse student population covering 426 square miles and seven municipalities in Chatham County. The Board seeks a dynamic leader who can build on existing innovations and move the school system into the future through a collaborative approach where student success is the number one goal. The start date for the new Superintendent will be on or before July 1, 2023. Savannah-Chatham Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer. ABOUT SCCPSS: As one of the largest employers in Chatham County, SCCPSS employs a dedicated workforce of 5,600 individuals who serve almost 37,000 students. The District operates through the Board’s five-year strategic plan designed to ensure high-quality teaching and learning experiences where every student reaches their highest potential. The Board is composed of eight non-partisan members elected from geographical districts and a President elected on a countywide basis. The school system has shown exceptional performance in the graduation rate that has outperformed the state average for eight years in a row, boasts award winning visual and performing arts programs, two Blue Ribbon Schools, two Green Ribbon Schools, two State Certified STEAM Schools, one State Certified STEM School, and numerous state level Industry Certifications. Our schools are fully accredited with one Cognia Accreditation School of Distinction.

SCCPSS also offers highly sought after Choice Program options where students experience awardwinning programs in specific fields of study. Many graduates have gone on to prestigious universities such as Harvard, Duke, and MIT. Students who have completed our specialized programs for performing arts and culinary have also been admitted to institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University, New York University, and Johnson & Wales University.

ESPLOST: Students and staff utilize effective tools for the delivery of quality educational services through ongoing facility enhancements, technology improvements, and security upgrades that have been made possible through a highly successful ESPLOST construction program. The district’s Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) is paying great dividends by creating positive learning environments and eliminating existing bond debt.
