SUPERVISOR:
High School Principal or Middle School Principal

SUMMARY:
Promote the success of all students by assisting the principal with facilitating the development, articulation, and implementation of a clear vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community. Recognize and address issues with student performance and behavior. Assignments include high schools and middle schools.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job; not all tasks may be performed by each employee. Duties and assignments may vary based on building assignment and academic year. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.
  • Assist the principal with: hiring of new teachers and support staff; planning and organization of a school-wide budget; planning and delivery of training and education for staff; and a variety of administrative tasks to assist in managing the school site. [Daily, 20%]
  • Instruct students in appropriate behavior, supervise the behavior and well-being of students in all educational settings, and administer discipline when appropriate. [Daily, 20%]
  • Maintain a positive, safe educational environment during and outside of the school day and at school events (including after-school hours) through active supervision. [Daily, 15%]
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of all students. [Daily, 10%]
  • Develop, coordinate, and supervise school programs in collaboration with school staff and/or outside agencies. [Daily, 10%]
  • Support teachers to develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, learning activities, and classroom materials and create a school environment which maximizes instructional opportunity. [Daily, 5%]
  • Monitor student growth and progress and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students. [Daily, 5%]
  • Communicate students' progress, needs, behavior/discipline issues, and eligibility with parents/guardians and other staff as needed. [Daily, 5%]
  • Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes and with colleagues in team- and building-based meetings and discussions. [Daily, 5%]
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five (5) years of classroom teaching or school counseling experience.
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Intermediate knowledge of guidance and counseling techniques.
  • Advanced organizational skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal relations and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Ability to promote and follow the Board of Education policies, District policies, and building and department procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.
  • Colorado teaching license or special service provider/counseling license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree.
  • Three (3) years of instructional leadership experience.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Colorado Administrator/Principal license.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Moderate physical effort (lifting up to 25 pounds).
