Qualifications:
Required
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
- Five (5) years of progressively more responsible bilingual language experience, with proficiency in Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Arabic, Urdu, or another language represented in significant numbers within the FCPS student population.
- Knowledge and understanding of the culture and customs of the designated language within countries.
- Knowledge of specific school-based terminology, such as special education vocabulary.
- Skill in interview and conference techniques.
- Proficiency in the use of technology.
- Ability to apply knowledge to the needs and requirements of a public school system.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with culturally diverse students, families, and staff.
- Ability to provide guidance and maintain confidentiality, at all times.
- Ability to participate in professional development activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to fluently and effectively communicate in both English and the designated language, orally and in writing.
