SUPERVISOR:
Principal or designee.

SUMMARY:
The art teacher will perform effective teaching methods to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students. Develops and promotes good relations among community and school clientele. Must have Ceramics/ Drawing and Painting experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Enthusiasm and compassion for working with high school students.
2. A commitment to school-wide equity and experience teaching culturally relevant curriculum.
3. Demonstrates understanding of scope and sequence of art curriculum and programs.
4. Strong knowledge of content area, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related to secondary learners.
5. Demonstrated ability to make a positive impact on student achievement and to differentiate instruction to support the needs of diverse learners.
6. Willing to support and actively participate in a professional learning community.
7. Demonstrated problem-solving skills evidenced through collaborative work with students, teachers, parents and administrators.
8. Strong classroom management, communication, organization, and planning skills.
9. Willingness to use PowerSchool for online attendance, online grade book, online posting of assignments, and parental access to attendance and grades.
10. Strong communication, organization, and human relations skills.
11. Willingness to sponsor and/or participate in extracurricular art activities/shows as needed.
12. Expertise and experience teaching drawing and painting (watercolor, acrylic, and oils)
13. Expertise and experience teaching figure drawing and 2D animation, preferred.
14. Thorough knowledge of art history and contemporary artists, including artists of different races, cultures, gender identities, and sexual orientations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Hold a valid Colorado teaching license with an art endorsement.
2. Proficiency in using technology.
