Special Assistant to the Superintendent
Salary:$105,750-$148,050
Job Summary:
To assist the Superintendent by handling correspondence, managing projects, supporting strategic planning, preparing reports, maintaining accurate records, and executing work for the Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college, Master's degree in Education or Business preferred.
- Three to Five years' experience in school district and/or non-profit leadership
- Ability to develop and maintain ongoing internal relationships involving difficult, formal negotiations.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence.
- Ability to collect research on methods and samples of procedures and documents in other districts or organizations.
- Satisfactory work record & criminal/child abuse clearances (Acts 34, 114, and 151).

- Such additional or alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may determine appropriate and acceptable.
- Compiles operational statistics and other data as the superintendent may require.
- Coordinates people and processes to deliver projects on time and with the desired outcomes aligned to objectives; identify and mitigate challenges which may impact successful delivery of projects.
- Serves as project manager for strategic planning process.
- Attends and provide staff assistance to the Superintendent for all external meetings and functions.
- Establishes policy framework and manages and updates all District/State policies.
- Carries out all information gathering, and research assignments as directed by the Superintendent in preparation for meetings (i.e., graphs, charts, reports, records, etc.).
- Coordinates and executes special projects as needs arise.
- Gathers information and independently compose draft correspondence to external partners.
- Coordinates and anticipates project management needs as it relates to Superintendent's calendar (i.e., Superintendent's Student Advisory, Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council, Cabinet and Central Office Departments).
- Serves as the Superintendent's liaison for business and community partners.
- Gives public notice of all Board meetings, legal notices and Board actions in accordance with legal requirements, including timeliness of notice.
- Notifies Board members and the Superintendent of all regular, special, and executive committee meetings.
- Maintains full and accurate minutes of the proceedings of all regular and special meetings of the Board and sends copies of such minutes to each Board member before the next regular meeting of the Board.
- Performs liaison duties between administrators, the district, state legislators, personnel, community resources, agencies and parents.
- Serves as the District's Right to Know Officer
- Complies with confidentiality requirements and understands the internal and external organizational relationships of the Board.
- Serves as Secretary to the Board Officers and the Superintendent and, as such, performs duties including, but not limited to, handles all official Board correspondence, typing reports, agendas and correspondence as requested by Board Officers and the Superintendent.
- Attests in writing the execution of all deeds, contracts, reports, and other instruments that are executed by the Board.
- Keeps an accurate record of terms of office for Board Members, vacancies, and appointments for the Lehigh County Election Board.
- Communicates directly and on behalf of the Superintendent, with Board Members, donors, staff, stakeholders, and others on district-related matters.
- Interacts with the Superintendent, Board of Directors, and the public in accepting requests for information and works with the Board Officers and the Superintendent in addressing such requests.
- Works closely and effectively with the Superintendent to keep him/her well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities and problems and concerns and follow-up appropriately.
- Maintains a collection of current literature on topics relating to school district governance such as legislation and School Board practices.
- Archives documents such as agendas, minutes, and documents reflecting key transactions of the Board.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
