Maxim Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, The Speech Language Pathologist inproviding speech and language services. The Speech Language PathologistAssistant will have clinical, educational, documentation, and treatment relatedactivities while working within the scope of responsibilities/ plan of careassigned by the Speech Language Pathologist and/or physician.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides components of a speech andlanguage program as specified in the treatment plan developed by a supervising SLP inaccordance with the physician's plan of care according to state regulations
  • Self-identifies as SLPA to families,students, patients, clients, staff and others
  • Assists the SLP with speech, language,and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation
  • Assists the SLP during assessment ofstudents, clients, and patients exclusive of administration and/or interpretation
  • Assists the SLP with bilingualtranslation during screening and assessment activities exclusive of interpretation
  • Provides timely and accuratedocumentation of student, client and patient performance and reports this information to thesupervising SLP
  • Programs and provides instruction inthe use of augmentative and alternative communication devices
  • Demonstrates or shares informationwith patients, families, caregivers, and staff regarding feeding strategies developed anddirected by the SLP as State Practice Acts permit
  • May adapt educational materials andequipment for the purpose of providing intervention and/or meeting the individual patient,client, student needs
  • May serve as an interpreter forpatients, clients, students, and families who do not speak English
  • Provides services under thesupervision of the SLP in another language for individuals who do not speak English and English-languagelearners
  • May assist with clerical duties, suchas preparing materials and scheduling activities, as directed by the SLP
  • Cleans and maintains equipment used inthe field in accordance with manufactures guidelines
  • Reports reaction(s) to treatment orchange(s) in condition of the patient, client, and student to the supervising SLP and alternateclinical designee as indicated
  • Maintains communication with thecompany and other personnel caring for the client, patient, student to assure that their effortseffectively complement each other and support the objectives outlined in the plan ofcare within the scope of practice
  • May participate in formal careconferences, parent conferences, and intra-disciplinary team meetings only with the presence of thesupervising SLP
  • Supports the supervising SLP inresearch projects, in-service training, public relations programs and marketing programs
  • Provides information to emergencyresponse agencies for individuals who have communication and/or swallowing disorders
  • Promotes early identification andearly intervention activities
  • May present primary preventioninformation to individuals or groups known to be at risk for communication disorders
  • Exhibits compliance with The HealthInsurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and
  • Family Educational Rights and PrivacyAct regulations
  • Actively participates in the requiredsupervision by a SLP to ensure quality of care to all persons served
  • Adheres to company policies andprocedures
  • Consistently models company'sphilosophy of customer service and compliance
  • Complies with applicable local, state,and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standards
  • Shall achieve and maintainprofessional competence
  • Performs other duties asassigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a graduate of a SLPA programwith an associate's degree, or have a bachelor's degree in a speech-language pathology orcommunication disorders program
  • Successful completion of a minimum of100 hours of supervised field work experience or its clinical experience equivalent
  • Current certification or licensure asa Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in the State of Practice
  • Must comply with accepted professionalstandards and practice
  • One (1) year of prior professionalSpeech-Language Pathology Assistant experience preferred; home care experience preferred
  • Must possess and maintain current CPRcertification in accordance with State regulation(s)
  • Current record of PPD or chest X-rayresults, if applicable
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide informationto and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to,supervisors, coworkers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiencyin the English language may be required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • $35-40/hr
