Qualifications:
  • BA/BS (Preferred majors: Social Worker, Counselor, Psychology, Education, Child Development or other related fields).
  • Valid Wyoming Teaching Certificate, preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with behavior concerns and/or developmental disabilities
Reports To: Assigned Building Principals

Job Goal: As part of the building MTSS team develop, implement, and use positive behavior support and intervention techniques to support the success of Tier II students. Provide support for teachers in the use of best practices in behavior/classroom management to help create a successful Tier I environment for all students.

Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Works with small groups or individual students to build upon appropriate behaviors so the student(s) can be more successful in the general classroom and other school settings.
  2. Collaborates with classroom teachers and related service providers in the development of a variety of strategies to meet the educational needs of assigned students.
  3. Assist students to overcome problems that impede learning and assist them in making sound educational choices.
  4. Working closely with the individual and with other professionals, such as teachers, to assess the student's behaviors and create a specially designed behavior plan, if necessary.
    1. Implementing the plan
    2. Providing ongoing assessments of progress
    3. Creating general strategies for behavior assessment
    4. Conflict resolution
    5. Crisis intervention
    6. Assisting other professionals who work with the student in their daily environment
  5. Model behavior techniques including behavior intervention and reinforcement strategies.
  6. Address problematic behaviors in accordance with Positive Behavior Support techniques
  7. Utilize nonviolent crisis prevention intervention (MANDT) approved procedures to de-escalate problem behaviors and ensure safety during crisis situations
  8. Track data for skill acquisition and problem behaviors on a daily basis
  9. Observe student behavior and assist in development of positive behavior plans for identified children.
  10. Designs and carries out appropriate goals, objectives and timelines for appropriate assigned students.
  11. Maintains accurate records and logs pertaining to services provided to students and parents. Monitors and documents student progress and communicates progress with appropriate students, staff, parents, and other members of the school based team(s).
  12. Collect and maintain data on the effectiveness of interventions and classroom management strategies.
  13. Collaborates in developing positive behavior intervention plans for students as necessary.
  14. Work collaboratively with school staff as they implement strategies and interventions..
  15. Assists the district in student referrals to community service agencies, which may include child protection, court issues, and mental health.
  16. Follows time schedules, attends and participates in all assigned meetings, and maintain a positive professional manner with students, parents, and staff.
  17. Interacts positively and appropriately with students at all times.
  18. Maintains confidentiality standards as defined by local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  19. Performs other duties assigned from time to time by supervisor(s).
