Qualifications: Valid Wyoming PTSB Certification as an Educational Diagnostician, Psychological Technician, Special Education Teacher, or Related Service Provider.

Reports To: Director of Special Services

Supervises: None

Job Goal: To provide case management services to buildings to insure procedural and substantive compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Assists the building administrator and staff, as requested, prior to and/or during the pre-referral process of children suspected of having a disability.
  2. Acts as Case Manager for children referred for a multidisciplinary evaluation and for children qualified for Special Education. Perform these duties in accordance with the Wyoming and School District Rules and Regulations Governing Services for Children with Disabilities.
  3. Assigns and collects appropriate assessments and data on students and compile and accurately interpret them or when appropriate send them on to others for interpretation.
  4. Completes and maintain accurate, updated records in compliance with record keeping requirements.
  5. Acts as IEP Chairperson performing duties in accordance with the Wyoming and School District Rules and Regulations Governing Services for Children with Disabilities.
  6. Tracks review of placement, annual review meetings, and three year re-evaluations for special education students.
  7. Monitors progress of special education students as indicated on their IEPs.
  8. Monitors teacher and related service provider documentation on student progress on annual goals and short term objectives.
  9. Keep records and notify central office of any discarded/missing equipment with district bar code numbers.
  10. Schedule tours for new SPED students with the school Social Workers and to SPED students transitioning between buildings within the district.
  11. Consults with regular classroom teachers, special education teachers, and related service providers to assist special education students.
  12. Ensures special education students are receiving services as designated on their IEPs.
  13. Complies with program procedures and local, state, and federal special education policies.
  14. Maintains ethical and confidentiality standards as defined by local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  15. Acts as administrator designee, as requested, during child study team meetings and other meetings concerning special education students and/or services
  16. Cooperates in following district and building policies, procedures, time schedules, and duty assignments.
  17. Assumes active participation in in-service and other programs for professional improvement.
  18. Performs such other duties assigned from time to time by the Director of Special Services or the building principal.


Terms of Employment: Designated by Contract

Evaluation: The Director of Special Services shall evaluate the performance of this position.
