Description of Service Opportunity:
The Math Acceleration Academy is a four day intensive math and enrichment program designed for students in grades 6, 7 and 8 who would benefit from additional math instruction to meet grade level standards. This program will run during the 2023 April Break on the following dates: Tues April 18th -Friday April 21st - 8:30am -2:55pm.
The Acceleration Academy is based on a research-supported program framework approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Each day will include two long blocks (90-120 min) of targeted math instruction that is integrated with a hands-on STEM project. Each day will also include an hour of daily prep time, during which students will participate in an enrichment activity. Each grade level (6, 7, and 8) will have a capacity of 2 classrooms with approximately 10 scholars per classroom. Program staff will also include an onsite program Principal, 6 Math Teachers, and .5 paraprofessional support for each.
The Math Acceleration Academy Instructional Coordinator, in collaboration with the Acceleration Academy Principal and K-12 Summer/ Vacation Week Program Manager will be responsible for supporting collaborative program design and implementation, including curriculum planning with the Academy principal, participating in staff professional development and mentoring instructional staff ahead of the program week. The Instructional Coordinator will also compile necessary student data for instruction and guide program assessment and reporting efforts.

Minimum Requirements/Job Qualifications:
Time Commitment: Up to 50 hours between March 20th - May 31st.
Experience in an academic coaching or supervisory role.
Preference given to regularly appointed teachers from Cambridge Public School District.
Length of Contract: March 20th - May 31st.
Compensation: $40 per hour, not to exceed $2,000
