    JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY

    Assist the Principal in the administration of the school, including hiring, evaluating staff and providing leadership in the areas of personnel, curriculum development, student programs, budgets, contracts, professional development design and delivery. The Assistant Principal would serve as an instructional leader largely supporting teachers in improving instructional practices. Responsibilities also include school safety, student attendance, student discipline and community relations.

    Must possess or be eligible for Colorado Principal License

    Work Experience Required

    Previous administrator-type experience and background in teaching preferred

    Successful experience in increasing student achievement in high stakes testing environment

    Experience working with diverse population

    Must have proven experience in standards-based education, data driven instruction, embedded professional development, and use of assessment data

    Must have proven success in increasing student achievement and creating positive change at the

    school level in a standards-based instructional program

    Other Skills and Abilities Required

    Computer application skills

    Ability to meet established deadlines

    Strong communication skills, both orally and written

    Ability to interact with top level officials and all staff with tact, courtesy and diplomacy

    Effective English and Spanish communication required

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Supervision of certified and classified employees under the guidance of the Principal.
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; conferences, goal setting, formal and informal observations, feedback and employee evaluations; rewarding, disciplining and terminating employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Location: Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations and meeting rooms. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain control under stress. The position requires travel to various campuses, district meeting sites and conferences/meetings in and out of state. The position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends.
