Elementary MUSIC TEACHER
GENERAL STATEMENT
The Stratford Public School District will be providing a three week in-person Summer Learning Academy. The academy's focus will be to provide students with support focused on the Science of Reading, Math Strategies, Social-Emotional Learning, and hands-on experiences in STEAM. The program for students is held Monday - Thursday and will begin on July 10th and end on Thursday, July 27th.
Teachers will provide instruction utilizing district-approved resources along with a combination of whole group, small group, individual student work, and various interest inventories/assessments to facilitate unique opportunities to engage students.
Teachers will collaboratively work together, share professional best practices, prepare the learning environment, and provide end of session(s) feedback. Teachers will work from 8:00-12:30 during the three weeks and are expected to meet for two 4 hour days prior to the program starting in order to receive program overview/expectations, professional development, plan, organize and prepare materials. Total working days = 14 days (12 student contact days plus 2 PD days).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend each session in a timely, responsible, and cooperative manner
Plan and implement instruction as directed by the Office of Curriculum and Instruction
Prepare learning environment
Conference with On-Site Facilitators, Lead Teacher, and Parents regarding students' progress
On-going assessment/interest inventory of students
Provide progress report feedback for end of session(s)
Attend 2 training/planning prior to the start of summer school (4 hour days)
- Current Connecticut teaching certification in Music
Successful teaching experience in the Stratford Public Schools
Solid classroom management
The salary for this position is $33.59 an hour.
