HEAD COACH - BOYS BASKETBALL
Location: Catalina Foothills High School
Stipend Range: $3,300 - $3,940
Target Start Date: October 2023

Definition:
Reports to the Athletic Director who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principal.

Essential Functions:
Must advise, coordinate and support the sport staff with the athletic director and principal. To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student sshall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence.

General Tasks:
The position includes other aspects such as extended time, risk injury factor and due process predicaments. It is the express intent of the job description to give sufficient guidance to function. In cases not specifically covered, it shall be assumed that a coach will exercise the common sense and good judgment of the prudent and reasonable person.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Have a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the high school administration, and be responsible for implementation by the entire staff of the sports program. Have knowledge of the existing system, state and region regulations; implementing same consistently, and interpreting for staff and athletes. Understands the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests or grievances through proper channels. Maintain discipline, adjust grievances, and work to increase morale and cooperation. Develop, organize, and supervise practices and competitions to ensure ethical participation, the safety of all who are present, as well as the adherence to all AIA and NFHS rules of the sport. Perform other duties which may be assigned by the athletic director. Assist the athletic director in scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournament and special sports events. Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices. Advise the athletic director of recommendations pertaining to changes in policy.

Qualifications:
Valid Arizona Teacher Certification or Substitute Certificate required. Employment as a teacher at the Catalina Foothills School District preferred. Must have ability to organize and supervise a total sports program. Should possess substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field. Must be CPR & First Aid certified. Must have a current IVP fingerprint clearance card without restrictions. Must be able to drive a district vehicle (small van) to matches and serve as the supervising adult.
