SUPERVISOR:

Principal Designee/Assistant Principal/Campus Administrator or designee.

SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, support the school's efforts to connect with and engage the families and communities that surround the school. Offer consistent on-site support to school staff and families of students in their ability to communicate, familiarize new families to the school, and ensure an effective relationship so that students can engage in deep learning at the school.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job; not all tasks may be performed by each employee. Duties and assignments may vary based on academic year. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.
• Support active parental involvement in the children's education both at home and at school. Welcome new families and support their establishment into the school and surrounding community by creating familiarity with the community within and around the school and sharing helpful resources. Facilitate communication and understanding between families, school, and the community. Introduce and welcome families to participate in school/community communication meetings such as PASS, PTCO, etc. Promote regular student attendance by providing outreach and resources to support families in need. Collaborate with District offices when needed to facilitate support for families and programs. Develop strong relationships with the school staff in order to assist students in finding support for their academic, social, and emotional growth. [Daily, 50%]
• Gather and disseminate community and district resources. Engage in on-going training and professional development that will support the liaisons efforts in collaborating with families and the community. Answer telephone and greet visitors, route calls, takes message, direct tours of building, provide directions to visitors, and provide routine information and assistance to students, parents, and staff. Support and assist school's clinic on an emergency basis or when necessary. [Daily, 40%]
• Monitor and reinforce appropriate student behavior during various activities such as play, lunch, in-school suspension, or in the classroom as required. [Daily, 5%]
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of administrative assistant/clerical, human resources, payroll, accounting, community liaison, or community/public relations experience.
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Passing score on the district interpreting and translating test (if bilingual).
• Intermediate knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
• Intermediate knowledge of common office application software.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Intermediate interpersonal relations skills.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
• Intermediate organizational skills.
• Ability to operate common office equipment.
• Ability to work alone and with others.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy books.
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education and/or training beyond high school.
• Experience working in an educational environment.
• Basic bilingual skills and experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students and families.
