Middle School English Language Arts Teacher

General Purpose

To plan, organize and implement an appropriate English Language Arts instructional program in a technology-based blended learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Teach English Language Arts to (MS)2 students on various learning levels
  • Prepare and deliver weekly English Language Arts lesson plans incorporating math, science, and technology.
  • Set up and monitor classroom testing environment to administer tri-annual Northwestern Evaluation Association (NWEA) and annual PARCC assessment
  • Utilize and monitor students in the use of learning materials, equipment, and relevant technology to support instruction.
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs and development.
  • Monitor individual students' progress and provide appropriate feedback regularly to students, parents, and (MS)2 administration regarding student progress needs.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the guidelines of the (MS)2 Student Handbook and apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Participate in department, school, and parent meetings and/or conferences.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in English or a related subject area from an accredited U.S. college or university.
  • Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and/or Highly Qualified.
  • Relevant teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology, or ability to be trained to efficiently use technology.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.
