Position: Technology Education Teacher (1.0 FTE)
Location: Adams Middle School
Responsible to: Building Administration
Essential Functions:
Adams Middle School seeks an innovative technology education teacher, with preferred expertise in engineering, robotics, and programming. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence to use technology to solve problems in a wide variety of settings with a concentration in robotics, coding, and online computer aided drafting and design. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, robotics, and programming, as well as a passion for facilitating problem solving, design, and STEM education in a student-centered, hands-on environment. Will provide instruction to middle school students in grades 7 and 8 in basic coding and other on-line technology resources to find creative solutions to critical problems. The candidate must have the ability to reach and engage students at all ability levels through a variety of multi-dimensional, challenging and relevant instructional approaches.
Minimum Qualifications:
CT Technology Education endorsement (047), required.
Unique Endorsement Computer Science (110), preferred.
Technology Education teaching experience, preferred.
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles, preferred.
Knowledge of ISTE Standards for Students and CT Technology Education Standards, preferred.
Knowledge of PC and MAC hardware and software, preferred.
Knowledge of robotics and coding, preferred.
Knowledge of best practices for incorporating technology into student learning activities, and using technology to solve problems, preferred.
Work Period: School year - 185 days
Starting Date : August 30, 2023
Closing Date : External Applicants Open Until Filled
Internal Applicants (current or eligible GEA members): Must apply by March 30, 2023
Salary : Per salary agreement
Note: New Teacher orientation will be held in August 2023 (dates TBD) prior to official start of school on August 30, 2023. Per contract all new teacher hires must attend.
